HLH- 01 SANTA CRUZ
(4 Days / 3 Nights)
This is one of the finest treks in the area of Huaraz, starting in the Sta. Cruz Valley, by Mount Huascaran, passing by beautiful turquoise glacier lagoons and native pollilepys tree forests with their endemic flora and fauna in danger of extinction. The trail route passes under a dozen peaks over 5,800m/19,000ft and leads over the Punta Union pass (4,750m/15,700ft) before ending at the picturesque Llanganuco lagoons. Some of the most exquisite mountain views, combined with the experience of the daily Andean life with its millenary culture and traditions.

ITINERARY |
| DAY 1: |
Huaraz – Cashapampa – Llamacorral |
An early morning, scenic bus ride along the Callejón de Águilas brings us to our trekking start at the village of Cashapampa (3,000m/10,000ft) where we meet our staff of wranglers, mules and saddle horses. After approximately 5 hours hike brings us to our first campsite at Llamacorral. (L/D)

| DAY 2: |
Llamacorral – Taullipampa |
During our today’s trek (app. 7 hours) we pass by beautiful turquoise colored glacial lagoons and native polylepen tree forests with their endemic flora and fauna. With clear weather we can enjoy breathtaking views of Mt. Alpamayo. Today’s camp is at appr. 4,400m/15,000ft. (B/L/D)

| DAY 3: |
Taullipampa – Huaripampa |
Today we hike over our highest pass Punta Unión (4,750m/16,000ft) from where we can enjoy breathtaking views of the Santa Cruz valley with its glacier lagoons and surrounding snow peaks. From here we descend to our camp at 4,000m/13,200ft. (B/L/D)

| DAY 4: |
Huaripampa – Vaqueria – Huaraz |
After a fortifying breakfast we continue our hike through polylepen tree forests, passing by some local communities where we can learn more about the daily life and traditions of the heirs of the Incas. We follow the natural path up to Vaqueria where our transport awaits us. Our drive back to Huaraz leads us over the Llanganuco pass (4,730m/15,600ft) from where we have the most astonishing views onto Mt. Huascaran, Huandoy, Chaccraraju and Pisco (weather permitting).
